Progress
I haven’t updated in a while so I thought I would post a in progress piece. lately i’ve been doing a lot of experimenting/working out techniques. but i’ve failed way more than i’ve succeeded, for surrreeee. so after rubbing my painting out in frustration and going home to lie down in bed and stare at the ceiling for a bit, i thought about what i actually LIKE doing and what...
Digital??
So, these are basically my first digital paintings ever. done in corel painter. which was actually quite easy to get the hang of, i guess cause its basically paint. the assignment was to do two portraits of Isaac Newton. i’m still trying to catch up in photoshop and all that jazz.

I’m starting to work out a technique that I like. it involves a lot of wiping, painting, drawing and more wiping. oh yea! most importantly, more fun than frustration. but don’t get me wrong, frustration is good too. oh! and i’m officially going to the illustration academy this summer. WORD.
Drawing of one of those print sketches. haven’t drawn like this for a while. - Love Bait, 8” x 11” pencil
Blah blah? blah blah.
I should have been writing a paper. oh well.
Sketchbook love
- quills and ink are awesome. - white acrylic gouache is my new best friend. - it’s good when my hands get covered in art supplies. - mess up? who cares?!
In motion
My next few weeks. Actually for printmaking class, but I decided to do them as paintings as well.
WC
Went to the park the other day and did some watercolor.
Found a red pen
More stuff from the moleskine. i included the drawing of the girl, because i way prefer the drawing over the paint. actually i usually like the sketches/under drawings of paintings more than i like the finished paintings. which probably is not a good sign?
!Rawr!
just one. oh! and i also think i’m going to the Illustration Academy this summer…well, that’s if i get accepted. hopefully! take it easy everyone!
Pens
People have been asking me what pens i use. so…i give you…. The Pentel R.S.V.P ball point pen. FINE. People also ask me if i’ve tried the famous James Jean SKB pens. i have. and i don’t really like them. they are really great pens but i’m attached to my Pentels. go Pentel!!!!!
too few
What i’ve been able to squeeze out between all the work i’ve been doing. TOO FEW.
sketchbook therapy
more stuff. wish i started painting in my book earlier. very therapeutic, nice to lose track of time and get lost for a little bit. all watercolor except girl with the megaphone (oil).

Lifeboat
The sketch for the next painting. this one is a bit larger so i’m giving myself the rest of the semester to finish it. the sketch is 7” x 10” and the final painting will be 21” x 30”.
got to draw
Well since i feel like i’ve been slacking on sketchbooking. i decided that i would force myself to draw everyday. it’s only been three days but i don’t feel like i’m “forcing” myself anymore…more like just drawing. for some reason on the last page, my pen kept exploding everywhere, especially when i was doing eyes. so all the eyes are deep black holes....
Triptych
Hello! updates have been kind of random lately because i’m working on so many things at once. but hopefully i’ll be able to post some more finished work soon. and more sketchbook stuff. but for now, another sketch… for an assignment triptych involving an animal, i chose crows/ravens. and we also have to include text somehow.
Blogs
No art but…just so everyone who asked knows i posted the blog list thing on my other blog.
?
Progress shot of one of the paintings i mentioned before. i should really invest in a new camera. or borrow someones phone. because their phone camera is probably better.
watercolor
I don’t think i’ve touched watercolor since i was in elementary school and drew dinosaurs all day. But i’m in a watercolor class so here they are. fun.
crow
Some sketches for a class. from life. it was fun to use pencil and go in and render again. and stare at the details and subtle changes in values. similar but different mindset from the pen.
